Accessible Communities:
Affordable Housing and Public Transportation
The high cost of living plays a significant role in reducing the opportunities Colorado families have to thrive and build communities, including in our district. We must actively promote pathways to home ownership, protect the rights of renters, increase access to public transportation, and bring down costs through creative policymaking.
Healthy Families
Access to high-quality health care and the privacy to make one’s own health care decisions are critical matters for our state. I strongly support policies that promote access to reproductive care, enhanced health care coverage, and investment in increasing the number of health care providers.
Prioritizing Education
Public money belongs in public schools. Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley schools are among the best funded in the state, but given the risk to funding with each budget cycle, we need to seek more stable solutions. Funding education requires a variety of solutions and ongoing dialogue with everyone affected.
Protecting Our Environment
I am committed to being an advocate for our land, water, and air, and ensuring that Colorado is a safe and healthy place to live. I will support policies that hold corporations accountable for the pollution they cause and commit to look for creative solutions to push our state towards green energy, while ensuring that costs remain steady for working families.
Gun Violence Prevention
We need common-sense solutions to prevent gun violence. This is an issue that I really care about. I have four children who grew up in the post-Columbine world experiencing active shooter drills. I was in a kindergarten classroom many years ago during one of those drills. It was scary for me, and it’s scary for our kids. All of these reforms can be accomplished without infringing on the Second Amendment rights of the many law-abiding gun owners in HD19.
Civility
Since 2017 I’ve been engaging in tough conversations surrounding the controversial topics facing our nation with community members who don't always see eye to eye. By leading out with civility and respect, I’ve opened pathways to communication that invite productive conversation and positive action.
