Shadow money PACs, many with DC connections, have promoted false attacks on Jillaire McMillan. She is a dedicated community member, small business owner, and nonprofit leader with bipartisan experience.

 

These attacks either misrepresent Jillaire’s record or make up lies about her position.

When casting your vote, get the facts and say no to dark money interests pushing fear in our communities! 

  • Myth: Jillaire opposed expanding the child tax credit.
    Facts: Not only does Jillaire support an expansion of the child tax credit, she has actively advocated for it by contacting elected officials and meeting with Congressional staff. Jillaire has the endorsement of Colorado Senator Michael Bennet who led the expansion of the child tax credit during the pandemic and who has continued to work across the aisle to make it permanent.
  • Myth: Jillaire praised excessive government spending.
    Facts: In 2019, Jillaire praised both Republican and Democrat senators who voted against shutting down the government—which shadow money groups are now using to claim she supported “wasteful spending.” Jillaire supports financially sustainable solutions and working across party lines, which is why she spoke out against government shutdowns that resulted from a lack of bipartisan problem solving.
  • Myth: Jillaire is a “radical activist.”
    Facts: Jillaire has served alongside people of all political stripes to help ensure funding for local schools, maintain access to healthcare, and protect access to the ballot. She was a leader in a national nonprofit comprised of 1/3 Republicans, 1/3 Democrats, and 1/3 unaffiliated voters supporting democracy reforms and ethical government. She is a practical voice—not a radical activist.
  • Myth: Jillaire supports the public use of heroin and removing criminal penalties for public masturbation.
    Facts: As a mother of four kids, Jillaire supports laws to keep our kids safe. This claim by shadow money groups is patently false and an attempt to scare voters—not educate them. It is offensive to suggest Jillaire would back laws that would endanger our kids.
  • Myth: Jillaire is a “tax and spend politician.”
    Facts: Jillaire is a first-time candidate and has never held elected office. As a small business owner, along with her husband, Jillaire knows about fiscal responsibility and opposes excess taxes.
